AWARD-WINNING FILM MAKES OFFICIAL SELECTION AT PRESTIGIOUS FESTIVAL
RNF’s LATEST AWARD-WINNING SHORT SCREENS IN LOCAL FESTIVAL WHERE THE MOTION PICTURE WAS ORIGINALLY FILMED
MOVING AND INSPIRATIONAL FILM SCREENS THIS SUMMER AT THE LONG ISLAND INTERNATIONAL FILM EXPO
RNF’s latest Multi-Award-winning short film, Maturing Youth is about a middle-aged man played by the Three-time Award-nominated actor Sean A. Kaufman, which executes a sad excuse of a gentlemen, if I might add, in a brilliant performance that I am still shocked he has not swooped up a Best Actor award yet.
The film really begins when he gets a unexpected knock while coquettishly entertaining random guests from the street with booze and drugs, of which again proves my disposition of him. His carelessness acts certainly and demeanor certainly to woman. One of his female visitors, played by the Award-winning actress Darleen Rae Fontaine for her role respectively, answers the door for him to be even more entertained by another woman, as if the party is really about to begin. Instead of a party, its an awkward gathering when we find out its his ex-lover — played by the Award-winning actress Kim Paris — who displays a weird balancing act of passiveness and feistiness, confronts him with his most challenging task, besides the unbeknownst of his daily life, his illegitimate son. Following a terrible fight between the broken couple, the film sets off to a place you would not expect it to. And takes a turn — well actually more like a wide left turn into another town.
The Long Island Film/TV Foundation and the Nassau County Film Commission present the 22nd Annual LIIFE [Long Island International Film Expo] which is held at old-fashioned arthouse Bellmore Movies, in New York which hold the Long Island Premiere of the film. This prestigious festival selects only the best to be screened from a wide range of genres throughout the world. From features, documentaries, animation and shorts, there is a plethora of masterpieces to watch during the week long festivities and Maturing Youth will definitely be a highlight.
Even some of Hollywood’s finest attends this beautiful festival including John Amos (What’s Happening), Ed Asner (Mary Tyler Moore Show), Robert Davi (Goonies), William Sadler (Shawshank Redemption), John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday), Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Billy Baldwin (Backdraft), and Ed Burns (Saving Private Ryan) just to name a few. So the chances that Hollywood stars may sit in the historic theater to watch this heartfelt drama is quite a possibility.
Maturing Youth was filmed back in 2017 in Hempstead a few miles away from where the festival is held in Long Island. The same area where the Award-nominated director, Divoni Simon and child actor Joshua St. Leger are originally from. They stated to the films producer Chase Michael Pallante, upon hearing the news, they are extremely excited to have the film screen in their hometown and they wouldn’t miss it for the world.
The film screens on Friday, July 12, the first day of the week long film festival. Tickets will be available soon at the films official website.
In the meantime, if you are in New Jersey, the film is screening next weekend, May 5 at the ‘Hang Onto Your Shorts’ Film Festival. Tickets are available now at www.MaturingYouth.com
